15/12/2003 | EAST TURKESTAN (UYGHURISTAN) NATIONAL CONGRESS

The East Turkestan (Uyghuristan) National Congress is shocked and deeply concerned about the statement issued Today by the Chinese Ministery of Public Security blaming diaspora Uyghur organisations for terrorism.

We point out that this statement is another Chinese attempt to hide the facts from the world public, to misuse the international struggle against terrorism, to distract the world attention away from its policy of oppression and “state terror” against peacefull civilian people of East Turkestan and to deceive the international community who recently have been more critical of the Chinese human rights records.

On this occation, the East Turkestan (Uyghuristan) National Congress, once again calls on the Chinese leadership:

--- To stopp terrorising its own citizens, namely the Uyghur population
--- To stop fabricating lies to mislead the world openion
--- To implement international covenants which it is a party to, and let
international observers to East Turkestan to asses the situation
--- To start “constructive dialogue” with the real representatives of
the Uyghur people aimed at finding a mutually acceptable political
    solution to the problem

We strongly believe, that the Western democracies, which most of the diaspora Uyghur organisations have been operating lawfully would uphold the rule of law, the democratic principles and walues; would not sucrifice the Universal Decleration of Human rights for short term political and economic interests and may let us to function as defenders of human rights and democracy in their respective countries.
